Ms. Psutka joined Weisberg Law Criminal Lawyers as an associate in 2018. Since joining the firm, she has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Psutka clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, where she worked closely with the judges of Ontario’s top appellate court. Ms. Psutka gained unique insights on effective advocacy both at the appellate and trial level from this experience.
Ms. Psutka completed her articles at a respected criminal law firm in Ottawa, where she worked on matters ranging from regulatory charges to homicide. Ms. Psutka focussed on appellate advocacy, helping to create and perfect complex legal arguments in cases involving sexual assault, firearms offences, and murder. During her articling year, Ms. Psutka co-authored an article on illegal strip-searching that was published in the Canadian Bar Review.
Ms. Psutka graduated from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law summa cum laude, among the top five students in her class. While in law school, Ms. Psutka received numerous prestigious awards including the Honorable Ray Lawson Scholarship for the highest standing in her first-year class and the Blake’s Scholar Award. She was also selected to participate in the Gale Cup, a celebrated national criminal appellate moot. Ms. Psutka was awarded prizes for Best Factum and Best Oralist.
